Technology & Network Management
With innovation and technological development driving so much change in the industry and in the overall management of the highways asset, the Technology & Network Management Advisory Group has a key role to play. It is established with a specific focus on those issues related to the emergence, impact and introduction of new technology, innovation and ‘disruptive processes’ into the highways industry, in addition to issues related to the policy and practice of highways maintenance service delivery and highways asset management. The Group has a critical role in ensuring the preparedness of the industry for technological, contractual and structural change and therefore, should provide a focus for the reporting to HTMA Committee of the opportunities and threats such change may pose to the industry.
This Advisory Group has brought together the Asset Management and Service Delivery Working Groups.
The group has developed a road space utilisation tool, which is currently a 'beta version' awaiting feedback from trials for further development.
Road Space Utilisation Model
The model has come about from discussions around proposals for optimal roadspace utilisation which take into account the needs of all stakeholders.
The model is designed to assess options in a considered and structured approach to identify the best choices for carrying out highway maintenance operations with safety of roadworkers and road users, costs of the work being carried out and the life of the network all being taken into account.
