How the HTMA works
HTMA brings together the highways management and maintenance industry, giving it a consistent voice and encouraging uniformity of standards. HTMA intends to set high standards and to drive positive change within the industry and believes this can be achieved by sharing best practice and harnessing the considerable resources of experience and knowledge within its membership.
While HTMA members are competitors in the same market, they share the same concerns and face the same challenges. More importantly, they share the same vision of the future of highways infrastructure. Our member companies have a strong will to share this knowledge and, as such, are a powerful information base.Committee
The Committee is made up of a senior nominated representative from each member organisation. It ratifies the strategy and receives reports from the Executive and each of the Working Groups. The Committee will ensure that the association adheres to its aims and objectives and shall make informed decisions regarding the direction of the association.Executive Team
The Executive Team is elected by the Committee and is currently made up the Chair, Vice-chair and two other Exec members, along with the Chief Executive. The Executive Team provides effective management of the HTMA whilst monitoring the activities of the association against its strategy. Its role is to manage the business of the HTMA, ensure delivery of the strategy and report progress to the Committee.Advisory Groups
The role of the Advisory Groups is to deliver the HTMA’s Strategic Objectives in line with the overall strategy. Their remit includes sharing of knowledge and best practice, including developing best practice documents for approval by the Committee. The Advisory Group Chairs will play a key role; they will lead and direct the work of the Groups, which may include the setting up and oversight of sub groups or Task and Finish Groups.Task and Finish Groups
These are individual groups set up in order to deliver a specific output, initiative or other project identified by the Executive Team or Committee. Task and Finish teams are drawn from individuals within HTMA member companies and industry experts with relevant experience to provide a blend of knowledge and experience suitable for the individual task. Each Task and Finish Group will be tasked with reporting either through a nominated Advisory Group or to the Executive Team. The groups are a powerful and dynamic source of information and will act as a catalyst for change, enabling HTMA to address effectively the challenges that lie ahead for the industry and its stakeholders.
