Sustainability

The HTMA Sustainablity Working Group has been very active over several years and successful in producing some significant outputs for the industry.

HTMA Sustainability Charter
The HTMA Sustainability Charter is a five-year vision for the highways management and maintenance industry becoming more sustainable.
The Charter is organised around the five Capitals of Sustainability to provide a framework for an operation which systematically promotes sustainability, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It addresses the issues that have been identified as having the greatest impacts on economic viability, social progress and environmental performance in the highways maintenance industry.

Climate Change tool
The group has also developed a Climate Change Risk Assessment for Pavements tool with an accompanying report.  For a copy of the tool, contact the HTMA Secretariat.

The working group supports the Association's strategic objective of  ''An efficient, effective and sustainable highways management and maintenance industry for the social, economic and environmental benefit of the communities in which we work''.

The group's objective is to highlight and to tackle sustainability risks which influence the whole of our industry and ensure pragmatic delivery of sustainability.
